Inventor Emil
Tyden
A group of entrepreneurs founded the Hastings Chair and Table Company in 1891 and built its main factory in Downtown Hastings. In 1898, Swedish immigrant and inventor Emil Tyden joined the company and patented several unique multi-leaf dining room table designs, many features still used today. By 1908, Hastings Table Company was one of the largest manufacturers of dining tables in the United States. Over the years, Emil Tyden founded and managed six different manufacturing businesses in Hastings, making him one of the most influential people in Hasting’s history. When he passed away in 1951, he was credited with transforming “Hastings from a quiet agricultural town into a busy industrial city.”

We don’t allow smoking in any apartments, common areas or outdoor spaces. Smoking isn’t permitted within 25 feet of any building entrance. Maybe we’re making it a little tougher to stay a smoker.
